CHAMP FALLS SHORT FOR GOODACRE ROUND
Sep 04, 2009 at 03:17 AM

Despite having already wrapped up the 2009 title South Australian Shawn Jamieson was looking more glory in the form of race wins, round wins and lap records, and he came away from round six of the Kumho Tyres Australian Saloon Car Series at Oran Park with mixed success.

He didn’t get the round – that when to fellow South Aussie John Goodacre in the Brice Australia Holden Commodore VT. Jamieson did win two races in his Morphet Vale Garage Holden but missed the lap record which stays with five time champ Bruce Heinrich. The latter goal was important as Saloon Cars won’t race the New South Wales venue on a national again – the circuit being earmarked for redevelopment into suburban allotments after the end of this racing season.

After setting the fastest time in the first of two qualifying session, new Kumho Tyres Australian Saloon Car Series title holder Shawn Jamieson went back to his motel for lunch and a relax while his rivals attempted to better the round six 1 minute 19.1959 second benchmark at Oran Park yesterday.

“When the sun came out and it warmed up, the track was not going to get any quicker, so there was no point going out there,” the Morphet Vale Garages Holden Commodore VT driver revealed. ALL BETS OFF FOR PARK FAREWELL
Aug 26, 2009 at 09:48 AM

With the series already in his keeping, new Kumho Tyres Australian Saloon Car Champion Shawn Jamieson has been keenly anticipating a great stoush at Oran Park this weekend, August 29-30. “Yeah it’s going to be on!” he enthused. “John (Goodacre) is going over, Bruce (Heinrich) is back and there are some quick New South Wales guys wanting to farewell the track in style.”

If the predicted showers stay away, Jamieson and his series winning Morphet Vale Garages Holden Commodore VT are primed to set a lap record that will stand for all time but otherwise, the South Australian wants to keep his winning momentum going for the remainder of 2009.
