TWO BY TWO FOR HOLDEN
Aug 18, 2008 at 08:42 AM

As well as being numerically superior for the first time, Holden Commodores enjoyed their best ever result in the Supaloc Australian Saloon Car category with a top two result in the two races staged at Phillip Island on August 9-10. The third of the races was red flagged shortly after the start because of an accident and did not count to the overall, round four result.

A hefty 75 kilo weight addition for the Ford Falcon AU's reeled in their speed advantage over the Commodore VT's which in the hands of South Australians John Goodacre and Kevin Weeks took a race win each before the third was abandoned after one lap when Glen Niclarsen in an older VN Holden crashed at turn two.

HOLDENS HIT BACK
Aug 09, 2008 at 05:27 PM

With six cars in the top ten, Holden drivers have hit back well against the dominating Ford Falcons in qualifying for round four of the Supaloc Australian Saloon Cars Series at Phillip Island today, Saturday August 9. But the road to success came at a price to the blue oval (Ford) brigade as they had their minimum weight increased by 75 kilograms after the last round.

Heading the timesheets after the two sessions was the Brice Australia Holden Commodore VT of South Aussie John Goodacre who didn't even go out for the latter session after posting a 1 minute 49.8405 second lap, four tenths faster than the Talbrace Ford Falcon AU of Queenslander Kris Walton.

FIGHTING FORDS SET FOR CONTEST
Aug 08, 2008 at 03:20 AM

Into the second half of the six round Supaloc Australian Saloon Car Series this weekend at Phillip Island, the South Australian Ford Falcon AU's of Steve Kwiatkowski and Matt Lovell will renew their struggle for supremacy. But after rounds at the Blue Oval friendly torque race tracks, the free flowing fast nature of Phillip Island for round four will bring the leading Holden Commodores into serious contention, particularly if the forecasted inclement weather is a reality.

Out of eight races this year, Kwiatkowski has won four and Lovell three with Queenslander Kris Walton the only other winner. Sadly though for the pre season favourite, his fast AU has been stifled by bad luck that has caused some race retirements. The next best placed of the Falcons would be Troy Hoey, also a Queenslander, who is running the 2005 series winner and has now linked up with Walton for future endeavours.
